How we work
We advise on the systems and processes behind a company's numbers — assessing work that isn't ours, mapping and rebuilding the chain financial data travels down, and planning what to change next. This page is how those engagements actually run.
It starts small on purpose
Every engagement begins with a fixed-price piece of work — a review, a diagnostic, a plan. It's scoped tightly, priced up front, and delivered in weeks rather than quarters. You find out how we think before you commit anything substantial, and we find out whether we can actually help.
No obligation: Nothing further is assumed. Plenty of engagements end there, and that's a legitimate outcome.
What you get on paper
Every engagement produces a document that stands on its own: findings, what they cost you in hours and money, options with trade-offs stated, and a recommendation with reasoning attached rather than asserted. Written to be read by an owner, not decoded by one.
Yours to keep: It's yours. Take it to your team, to a vendor, to your board, to us. It works without us in the room, which is the test we hold it to.
Who does the work
The person you meet is the person who does it. There is no bench of juniors behind this practice and no plan to build one — which is also why we take on a limited number of engagements at a time.
Where we stop
We plan, we design, and we build.
That's the engineering side of the business and it's genuinely good work.
But if the job is to assess something that already exists — a proposal, a programme, a codebase, a set of AI pilots — then assessing it is all we do.
We don't take the follow-on work on the thing we just judged. An assessment written by someone hoping to win the rebuild isn't an assessment, it's a proposal with a diagnosis attached.
Three more boundaries, for the same reason:
- We don't keep books or produce financial statements — your accountant or auditor does that.
- We don't advise on tax; that requires an FTA-registered agent and we'll introduce ours.
- We take no vendor commissions and no referral fees from anyone we recommend.
